Our Senior Advisor Dr. Rosa Castro-Feinberg has informed us of a new online, graduate program in bilingual education offered by the University of Puerto Rico. The overview of this program describes its background and intent:
For more than one hundred years, the Río Piedras campus of the University of Puerto Rico and more recently its Division for Continuing Education and Professional Studies (DECEP) has worked with in-service teachers around the island of Puerto Rico offering valuable, innovative, and transformational professional development opportunities. With this prospectus, we propose a one-year, online graduate course sequence in bilingual education which will facilitate the attainment of a bilingual endorsement (also called an extension) in different states in the US. Within this prospectus, we propose to increase our reach to U.S.-based, in-service educators who need or are interested in a bilingual education endorsement. The target population are teachers who already hold a state certification in at least one content area and are now looking to add on to that credential.
